James Pellegrino - co-director of University of Illinois Chicago IC Learning Sciences Research Institute, Liberal Arts and Sciences Distinguished Professor, and Distinguished Professor of Education. His unique blend of expertise combining knowledge of cognitive science, psychometrics, educational technology, instructional practice and educational policy – has led to appointment as head of several National Academy of Science/National Research Council study committees.

Manu Kapur  – Head of Learning Sciences Lab at the National Institute of Education of Singapore and an Associate Professor in the Curriculum, Teaching and Learning (CTL) Academic Group. He received his doctorate in instructional technology and media from Teachers College, Columbia University in New York where he also completed a Master of Science in Applied Statistics. He also has a Master of Education from the NIE and a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering (Honours) from the National University of Singapore. He conceptualized the notion of Productive Failure and used it to explore the hidden efficacies in the seemingly failed effort of small groups solving ill-structured problems collaboratively in an online environment.

Michael Jacobson - Professor and Chair of Education in the Faculty of Education and Social Work at the University of Sydney. He also is the Co-director of the Centre for Research on Computer-supported Learning and Cognition (CoCo) and Deputy Director, Institute for Innovation in Science and Mathematics Education. He is interest is in the integration of research on how people learn, how we can design both environments of learning as well as the use of technologies that support and enable these types of learning environments.

Shane Dawson -  Deputy Director Academic Learning Services in the Learning and Teaching Unit at the University of South Australia. Shane’s research focuses on the use of social network analysis and learner ICT interaction data to inform and benchmark teaching and learning quality. Shane is a founding executive member of the Society for Learning Analytics Research and past conference chair of the International Learning Analytics and Knowledge conference. He is a co-developer of SNAPP an open source social network visualization tool designed for teaching staff to better understand, identify and evaluate student learning, engagement, academic performance and creative capacity.

Luke Menzies - Centre for the Public Awareness of Science, ANU : how to improve communication of complex environmental problems using interdisciplinary and participatory approaches to communicate issue around climate change

Steffen Walz - founder-director of RMIT’s Games & Experimental Entertainment Laboratory as well as the founder-director of RMIT’s GEElab Europe in Karlsruhe, Germany. Steffen is an award winning game & interaction designer, an internationally recognized scholar & book author, a business consultant & an entrepreneur with a background in computer aided architectural design, cultural anthropology, creative web direction.

David Williams - Director for the Bachelor of Biomedicine at University of Melbourne and active bench researcher.

Jim Cook - ICT Innovation Lead at Sydney University whose interests include using cutting edge technology to improve the learning experience for both students and staff. Jim will bring a selection of his favourite “toys” for you to experiment with and explore
how you might use them in your teaching.

Beth Beckman - Staff Education Unit ANU and convenor of theANU Academic Professional Development program. As Chair of the ANU Educational Fellowship Scheme Committee, she also plays a key role in the University’s engagement with the Higher Education Academy. She will talk about her OLT project on introducing HEA Fellowships in Australia.

Roslyn Princely - National Adviser, Maths and Science Education and Industry, Office of the Chief Scientist will join us again to talk about the employability survey and industsry links and other exciting work from the chief scientist.

We are now finalising the program and about to commence registration. We are also very keen to hear from our members who have been working on CUBEnet related projects, so we have left the afternoon sessions free for you to give short presentations. We will would also like to have posters on display of your work during the meeting. Please contact Phil if you would like to give a presentation or a poster at the Forum
