The Biofutures Group aims to update the biomedical curriculum to keep abreast of emerging areas in modern biomedical science. These areas include genomics, proteomics and other ‘omics’, systems biology, bioinformatics and pharmacogenomics and personalised healthcare.
The group’s brief will include looking at ways to help students develop theoretical, analytical and practical skills through a range of approaches, including problem-based learning, e-learning and blended learning. In addition we will be working on developing effective approaches to engage students in research-related activities. The group will also address how to build more flexibility into biomedical curricula so programs can be updated smoothly as biomedical science evolves.
Group coordinators: Liz Milward (Newcastle University), Merridee Wouters (Deakin University)
